I agree Demon, I did the same. I held my nose and voted for the lesser of the two evils rather than voting my conscience. I won't do it again. I won't let people convince me that I will be throwing my vote away. If a third party gets 5% of the vote they would qualify for election matching funds in 2016. So in effect , I threw my vote away this time.

It's a complex problem. The voters aren't holding politicians accountable for their (lack of) performance. The voters have allowed the politicians to build a kingdom in which they act irresponsibly, but insulate themselves from accountability. We've allowed the political parties -- at least the two primary parties -- to become what the unions have become. They hold themselves above the rules of logic, truth, law, and ethics, and consider themselves invincible. And we accept that. No private business could survive being run the way our elected officials run this country. The politicians all point out all of the things that are wrong with the country, but none of them want to fix it. The voters let the agenda-driven media tell them what to think, how to vote, and what is right and wrong. The voters accept, even defend, the lying, cheating, and stealing committed by the officials of their chosen party, and condemn the same actions by the officials of the opposing party.

The truth is, WE don't give a sh!t. If we did, we'd start voting out the incumbents every election, until we get some in there who see public service as a privilege rather than a pathway to power and riches. We'd start evaluating candidates based on THEIR views, rather than who the media tells us to support, or who the party decides best supports their agendas. We'd start supporting the candidates who AREN'T affiliated with the power brokers and the parties. We'd give the kind of people we would like to have representing us the incentive to run. We'd look at what a candidate can do for our country, rather than what he/she can do for our profession / race / sex / religion / other special interest. It should be about our country -- all of us collectively -- rather than about handouts or special concessions.

But no, that'd be too hard. I guess we'll just keep on accepting the crap the parties give us. We'll keep on believing that the way to end the deficit is to raise revenues rather than curb spending. We'll keep on spreading the lies about the "other party's" candidates and denying the sad truths about the crooks from "our party", and pretending that we're getting the best there is to represent us. Where else but America can a drunk philanderer kill somebody, get caught lying to cover it up, escape all accountability, and go on to get reelected every campaign for the rest of his life, while being hailed as a paragon of virtue? Where else can a politician get convicted of felony charges, go to prison, and get elected back to his old position when he gets out? Only in America, folks, because the American voter demands only the best..................... Just look at Washington if you don't believe me.

Only one incumbent senator was defeated, and only about two dozen House incumbents will not be returning and most of them were due to redistricting.
I say we all join in on legalize marijuana for recreational use as they did in  Colorado and Washington, this would at the very least explain why we don't give a crap any more.
We have so much to say about corrupt governments throughout the world, I say we are one of the most corrupt, if we continue to elect incumbents every election we the people are opening the door for corruption, they all leave when they do and on their own terms; loaded to the gills while we continue to struggle.
What ever happened to "Turn on, tune in, drop out" don’t have to Turn on or Drop out, but we dang sure need to tune in.

Sounds good! The probem is we can vote out our reps but can't get rid of the knuckleheads in the other states like Pelosi and reid. Hate to say it but the ones who really get the American dream seem to be the recent immagrants. I deal with a lot of them on a daily basis but even they are getting discouraged with our march toward socialism.
