For about 130 bucks labor plus parts, Race Tech will install everything you need to bring the forks to great working condition. Just ship them the forks. Of coarse while they are have them you will want them to change the springs and dampening to what it should be for your weight. Doing that makes a big diffference. The VTX is grossly under spring in the forks.
On my 1800 I did the labor myself. All Race Tech parts were $330.00 (thier Gold valves, springs and oil) and all Honda OEM bushings and seals were $115.00. If you have Race Tech install everything you would add another $130.00 for a total of $575.00.
Unless you just wanted to do it yourself, 130 bucks is fair for the work involved IMHO.
With Race Tech forks and some great shocks at the rear, the X handles like a heavy sport bike. It just lacks the ground clearance.
