Fat Spoke wheels
« on: November 23, 2011, 12:05:34 PM »

Has anyone ever come across or seen anything about putting fat spoke wheels on an X?  I'm wanting to go with a non-cross laced fat spoke front 23" wheel, in black of course.  My main concern is the brakes and such.  Just curious if anyone has seen anything like that before.

Have not heard of anything like this, but it gives a really nice image --- do it and let us know.

If you want to pay the bucks for which they are high StumpWerks can help ya out.
There is also a place out in Cali. that does spokes.

What you are wanting is called "radially laced". Call Buchanan's. They can modify a stock hub to an aftermarket hoop any size you want. And no, it won't be cheap, but they are the best.

Ouch
I was looking at outting a 21" spoked rim on my 240spoked X and was going to cost me about
$1,100 for the rim. Then you would need bearings, tube (unless you sealed the rim) and painted fender. Looking close to $1,700. Yep OUCH!  ;D

I was thinking about replacing my stock POS spokes with nice chrome plated spokes. Is there anyplace in the DFW area I can get it done at? Or is anyone interested in trading Retro or C rims with tires/rotors etc straight up? My tires are almost new Dunlop WWW (see sig. pic)
Thanks
Mark

That sounds about right.  that's what i'm expecting to dish out, but I'll think I'll concentrate more on teh overall cosmetic first of blacking everything out and then at th end decide on the spoked wheels or not.  In the meantine I will wijust powdercoat the stock wheels or I did come across a guy in Corpus Christi that can exchange my wheels for some F whels and powdercoat them for $800.00
