http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/cobra-fi2000r-powerpro-tuner-honda-vtx1800-02-to-08/part/BLV92-1650AT

automatically adjust up to 80 times per second.  :ohwow: No Dyno needed, No external adjustments, except maybe making your bed on the couch.  ???

Additionally, what are you guys using?  It's been a long time coming, but I'm finally going to upgrade the air cleaner and exhaust and will need to get a FI processor.

I had the original Cobra model on mine shortly after buying the X.  I soon changed over to the PowerComander and now have it dual mapped.  If you only want it for going fast, then get it, but the fuel will...GO FAST  :ohwow:  and burn a hole in your pocket book!!!!     :banghead:    :cuss:

I don't know why they call it a 'Tuner'  :redcard:  because it only has a couple of settings available; and then it just dumps & keeps dumping fuel.  I gave mine away and 5 years ago they were only $275.

My thoughts are...if your are going to travel on your bike...don't get it.   :c

If you are going to race around the city, then it may be for you.

I don't really want to tune it to go fast, but since I am getting an air cleaner and changing exhaust, I know I have to change some settings.

Additionally, what did you notice your fuel consumption go to?

28-32 mpg & if I really race around town it would drop to 24-28 mpg...

I put new pipes (Muzzy's) on mine with the Pro-Hypercharger and then went with the PowerCommander.  Alot of guys don't go with a tuner after changing the air-intake & pipes, they bike sensor/ECM will adjust itself from what I have been told.

Chad or Johnnycheese can definitely give some insight on this.

well, hell, if doesn't need it than that would save me some bucks.  I'm basically changing for cosmetic mostly and deeper note on the exhaust to get away from that blappy sound.  I'll put the programmer if it needs it, but if it doesn't than for now, I can spend the 250-300 on something else.

PCIII is what I have used. The twist of the wrist has alot to do with your mpg.
Going down to LS I was running 75/80 most of the way and got right at 42mpg.
I have a K&N with Roadhouse slip ons. On my 240 spoked I got about the same.
It had a thunder intake and HardKrome sideburners exhaust. you can find all kinds of maps
and play with the tuner yourself unless you want alot of hp with it!

YES...chrome  ;D

No more chrome here.  I'm actually taking it to another direction.  I"m blacking out everything.  I've dubbed it the "Black Power" build. O0

Sorry, chrome is a habit for me...

Yes, on twisting the throttle but I sure did blow a lot of gas with the Cobra fi2000.

You may want to research that unit before you spend any money. I believe it will only add fuel. You should get a dyno run with a graph of your air/fuel ratio throughout the entire RPM range. You will notice that your ratios will be rich in areas and lean in areas.

The Power Commander will add or subtract fuel as programmed. It is also able to tune in 250 RPM increments, and tune the cylinders individually.  It's a much better buy. The Harley Davidson Billy Badass Whiz-Bang Top-of-the-Line fuel programmer is a Power Commander, but they pay Dynojet Research to brand it with the HD logo and sell it exclusively to them.

So just to confirm someone elses opinion.  Can I get away with installing an air cleaner and different exhaust without putting in a fuel processor?
