New member N Houston-Steer bearing repair shop?

Hello Folks,

Bought used 1300R earlier this year, had 9000 miles, put on about 800 since then.  I plan on going (trailering) to Sturgis Rally first week of August. I would like to get a couple things done before that. Does anyone have suggestions for a repair shop, or individual, that could do the steering bearing replacement? Somewhere in The Woodlands area would be nice but I would take it a longer distance if I new it would be done right. A shop named Misfit on 1488/Magnolia area has been suggested. My neighbor, also has 1300X, checked at Northwest Honda and they were not aware of bearing issues or replacement mod. I could probably do the repair but a couple things concern me...1. pressing in the bearing races 2. I've seen homemade tools used to make the jobe easier 3. it's hot in my garage. Looking forward to hearing from you and meeting.

 Welcome to the board alot of good people here just watch out for an old guy named Gumbo lol.On the bearings someone might be having a tech session here soon although pretty hot for that this time of year.I have a 1300C and replaced mine a good while back since Honda is to cheap to install good ones.If you can wait till fall when it is cooler you will save alot of bucks doing it during a tech session and not have the bike out for several days at the stealers.

Welcome to the board. We used to have a shop in The Woodlands but he moved back to CA for family reasons. I've used Global Mortorsports (1960 kykenduhl area) before for things before like new tires. They were reasonably priced and I never had any problems.

I can do your head bearings. I have all the tools. The real ones, not the homemade ones.

Thanks for your reply regarding steer bearing replacement. Parts are on order, should deliver next week.  I also ordered progressive springs to replace.  Let me know how you would like to schedule the repair.

I am off every other saturday, and on Sundays. Pick a date that works for you and let me know. (I am available this saturday and sunday if you wish) It only takes a couple hours.

Got Progressive springs delivered today. Bearings havn't shipped yet. Is there somewhere to buy them in Houston area?
