Need Iron Butt Witnesses

I am in the early stages of planning an IB run from San Antonio to El Paso and am looking for witnesses for my departure, turn around and return.

Date: Saturday July 9

Depart Time: around 5 AM.  Ideally would like to meet a witness in New Braunfels but could meet anywhere along I-35 between New Braunfels and Shertz.

Turn Around Time: 4 PM to 6 PM at Mr. Motorcycle, 6020 East Gateway, El Paso, TX.

Return Time: Between 11 PM and 1 AM. Ideally would like to meet a witness in New Braunfels but could meet anywhere along I-35 between New Braunfels and Shertz.

Witness Responsibilities:  The witness will need to meet me in person (on time) at the agreed location.  The witness will need to sign an official IBA witness form testifying to the date, time and location of meeting me.  The witness will be required to give their name, address and phone number on the form so, if they should so choose, the IBA can contact the witness directly to confirm the authenticity of the form.

NOTE DUE TO WORK COMMITMENTS I AM POSTPONING UNTIL SATURDAY JULY 16 (GOD WILLING AND THE CREEKS DON'T RISE)

:redcard: :stickpoke:.. Why in the hello would you want to pay for a pin????   Ride where you want to go and see and have a good time!!!    Ride like heck to get back where you started???????       Ride safe ride long. Lex.

Just so I can say I did it and have the credentials to back it up  8)
I want that Tough Guy license plate bracket  ::)

Thinking about a 50CC Quest this fall and thought a SaddleSore1000 in west Texas in July would be a good way to warm up.

Awesome endeavor! Good luck. I'd be glad to help but I don't think a witness in San Antonio is of any use. If so let me know.

you going solo lex? i did this exact same ride about 3 years ago. plan those gas stops carefully, once you get west there are a few stretches that gas is hard to be found. also on our trip the wind was horrible and cost us a lot of gas. i actually ran out once but had a spare can with one gallon that saved me. take cash, don't rely on your bank card to work. good luck.

Planning on solo, didn't want to be limited (or stretched) by some else's abilities and commitment.  I've been looking at those gas stops pretty closely.  With that puney VTX1800C it will be a challenge, especially if I hit wind.  Was planning on carrying 2 gal spare tank.  Cash is always a good call.  Thanks for the advice.

Ufortunately (or fortunately) work has reared its ugly head and I have to travel Thursaday and Friday and don't expect to get home until close to midnight on Friday.  Not a good way to start and Iron Butt.  So I am going to postpone until the next weekend.  I'll keep you guys posted on this thread.  Thanks for the witness, volunteers, advice and general interest.
