Wont Start
« on: June 24, 2011, 04:49:34 PM »

Battery went dead a couple of weeks ago...  finally got around to jumping it off/charging it.  Battery has juice, bike turns over like normal.  When I turn the key on, I don't get the click or the fuel pump...  no fuel, won't start.  I disconnected the battery for a while & reconnected, and tried again, but get the same result.  I just can't figurte out what to start replacing...

Thanks, checked all of them (5 or so) in the little fuse block by the battery...  all good

Maybe the starter relays?  couldn't find anything listed for the fuel pump, except the fuel pump itself...

How about the kill switch on the handle bar.

I agree with the kill switch thought! If it's turned on, which I sure it was or is, being the rider you are, might flip it off and on several times to see if it might connect. If not I would take it apart and clean it before I started going hog wild and jerking wires and parts. Not the first time this problem has raised it's ugly head!   :c

tried with kickstand down and in neutral as well as up in neutral and in gear.

I rocked the switch back and forth, but nothing changed, but I will go take it apart in a few minutes...  Would there be a chance that its the switch even if the bike is trying to start like normal, just not getting fuel?

When you flip the key on and then the handlebar switch can you hear anything?? When you flip the switch on the handlebars the fuelpump turns on. You will hear a humming sound. No hum, I would say switch 1st to look at.

no hum at all, cleaned the contacts on the switch and then went to the manual pg. 5-55 and went through the steps there...  it was a fuse on the left hand side of the bike, i had checked the fuses on the other side, didn't know about the others...  contacts in the switch were dirty, so probably a good thing i got them cleaned...

Scooters running right now, I'm going riding!

Thanks for the replies I appreciate it!

Just noticed your footnote

Hooter, if I remember right, the fuses on the left side are the main or master fuses. They are way back in the back!
