Decap? or not?
« on: March 08, 2011, 03:39:08 PM »

Ok  Here is what I got so far...  07 VTX 1300s.  DEEEEP Clayton root mod.  I put 6 holes I think, while looking in the bottom hole I discovered a freeze plug.  After destroying the freeze plug she got really loud and I am happy for now with the sound.  The back pressure is gone and the exhaust flows really good.  I lost a lot of low end tourque and the HD's I used to pull away from now spank me.  I went with the K&N air filter and the DJ stage one jet kit.  As per instructions in thw kit, I put the 195 jet and set the pin to the 4th notch and installed the shorter spring and turned the A/F screw 3.5 turns.  Now the bike runs good and I did notice an increase in low end power but not enough.  I know I have good unrestricted flow out but I think im still restricted with the in.  I'm thinking about the Decap on the air box and running the 200 jet.  My questions are this...

Do I need to do the scar mod now with the jet kit installed?

Should I go with the 200 jet?

Will Decapping the air box void the warranty?

What else can I do to get more low end power?

Is there a aftermeaket coil that works good?

Thanks in advance.

Install some "Torque Cones"; I purchased ($25) mine from an H-D store a few years back or check on-line.
