Pixie Stick powdered candy sticks.  The Halloween “Candyman” child killer caused them to be put out of production.

You can actually still get Pixie Sticks.  I have only found them at specialty candy shops.

I miss the Stingray AppleCrate bicycles (they had the shifter on the frame).   There were also Lemon Peelers and Orange Crates and they were the coolest bikes to ride but were kinda pricey for my parents to afford.

I think there were a couple of kids not born because of those bikes, after the riders impaled their balls on that shifter.

Happened to a friend of mine.
The Stingrays were on their way out of style when I was old enough to ride a bike.  The BMX bikes with knobby tires and mag wheels were all the rage in my days.  But a buddy I grew up with got a hand-me-down Stingray from his big brother.  It had apes, a squared-off rear tire, a banana seat, sissy bar, and the nut-busting shifter.  He racked himself several times on that thing...one time drew blood.  He got a BMX bike after that.

Showing off my new shotgun, to the school teachers in the school parking lot, and  putting it back on the rifle rack and leaving it in a unlocked pickup, and this was just normal back then.
Messing with the town's night watchman. We threw a string of firecrackers in the bed of his pickup from the top of the post office, he jumped out shooting up and down the street.
