I don't think any of ya'll can compete with my 4x4 V10 Excursion, I get a whoppin' 10 miles per gallon on average...  But that's the wife's ride.. Me, I get the 91 civic hatch with 322,000 miles on it that still gets 35mpg.  Better than the bike!

I have a F150 Supercrew 4 door with the 5.4 litre engine and get around 17 MPG. I drive the $hit out of it too. If gas gets to $5.00 a gallon I will still drive a full size truck! It will be American Made also!

Same Truck, Same Situation!  O0

I bought the truck 3 years ago, so I could carry tools, and supplies when I re-do a property. I hope to have a condo in Ruidoso in the next 2 weeks, and the drive there and back is 1200 miles.($255.) I need to load up the truck & trailer with my tools and head up there to tidy the place up a bit. That got me thinking about the gas milage. I need the truck to haul with, but just driving around doing the day to day stuff, I'd rather have something that get's better milage.

If you really want something for mileage, get a VW TDI diesel (Bettle or Jetta).  They average better mileage than a hybrid, will run well over 300k miles, and are cheaper than a hybrid. On top of that, you can run them on bio-diesel if you want to be environmentally conscious.

or drive a cheap used car...... spend all that up front cost on other things... when it craps out, buy another cheap junker..... mine gets 22 mpg, and I've got $950 in it and been driving it for 18 months. not bad.

So Hot Wheels finally made a car I can actually drive!!!!  SWEET!!!!  :)

If I could use my bike for work, I'd be saving a ton of money.  Over the last four years, I've averaged 17,070 miles for work alone!  :o

(17,070 miles / 18mpg) = 948.33 gallons X $2.50/gal = $2,370.83 (For the Mazda Tribute - V6 - 200 H.P.)
(17,070 miles / 42mpg) = 406.43 gallons X $2.50/gal = $1,016.08 (For the X - V-Twin - 64 H.P.)

The cost per gallon is hypothetical, of course...

That's a savings of $1354.75...sheesh, I'm gonna go sulk for awhile... :( :'(...thanks, R.D.  Hey, can I come stay at your place in Ruidoso??  ;)
