Do we need a ride to Huntsville for BBQ?
« on: October 08, 2010, 10:45:08 PM »

Saw this little place, Holy Smoke BBQ, on you tube.

Holy Smoke BBQ

Apparently it's worth a trip up some time.

Although apparently the gal has passed on, another poster mentioned she trained her staff well.

They sure make it sound good.
It's a 2 1/2 hour ride for me, but North on 69 to Woodville and then 190 to Huntsville should be a beautiful ride this time of year.
I'm game for it.  :bikerider:

I made this trip back in August. Saw the place on the travel channel on Monday morning, canceled plans to ride to Fort Worth and headed to Huntsville. Got there and it was closed so we got a motel room and planned on lunch there Tuesday. Closed again.  :'(

I'm still looking forward to the ribs and I've heard that it's only open now on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. It might be a good idea to check and make sure. One of these numbers should work.

I tried a few different times today to call the BBQ place, but never got an answer.

I did get a recording from the church number associated with Holy Smoke BBQ and the recording said the BBQ place is open Thursday to Saturday 11 - 6.

I'll keep trying to reach someone.

Make sure you call the second number, I read in a review that the first one was not right. 936-294-0884

I rode there with Pete, Dwight and a few others last year, it was definately worth the ride. I pretty sure Pete has been back since. I didn't have room for pie but those who did said it was really good.

I was in a group call Women on Wheels and we had a huge Motorcycle Ralley in Huntville several years ago. The Mt Zion Church Holy Smoke BBQ catered our Lunch. The BBQ was great. Can't remember what we had for desert.

I found the web site to the Mt Zion Church and sent them an email to inquire if the BBQ is still open every Saturday and if there is a time they may run out of BBQ. As we know happens at other places that are popular.

We'll see if i can an email response from the church since i keep getting their recorded phone message.

Found a link with some photos of the place and a sign in front posted last March with the same phone number Hooter posted on here. But I never got an answer on Saturday. it might have changed?
