I was fooling around on the wing board and came across this guy's site. bar-mounted speaker system for $129.... couldn't be that bad, right?

It takes about 30-40 watts per speaker to be able to hear it while at speed, this'd probably be good around town though.

It's a good system at twice the cost but over 60 mph you're not going to hear much detail in the music.    But, I have the VH Bigshots. Merle Hagard comes through clear at almost any speed but instrumentals are lost to the wind, even with my windshield. However, below 60 mph the quality of the sound is really good. Looking at the two mounting system, in my opinion, Custom is much stronger.

I like my speakers, but if I had it to do over again, I wouldn't have purchased them. Simply because I rarely ride below 60 mph and hardly ever listen to country music. I use to use earbuds but on long rides they became uncomfortable. But, I could hear the music at any speed. The flip side was at times, I couldn't hear anything but music.

I have to have my MP3 on high volume, just to hear it! And that's with the speakers in my ears.
