Another Plugged Tire

Rode out to Taylor Tx for some barbeque Saturday, and managed to pick up a big old nail in Brenham. Made it to a Polaris/Artic Cat shop. where they gave me a plug and plugger. The nail was on the edge of the tread. Pulled the nail, plugged it, refilled with air and made it to Taylor. Enjoyed some great brisket and sausage. Now I'm debating about replacing the tire, or just riding as is. If I had a long ride planned, I'd replace it. For local riding, I'm inclined to just ride with the plug for a while.

  I would replace it even though I ran on a pluged tire for about a year but was down inside the tread.The place in Pasadena pluged it but was from the inside  and they said that would be the big difference.

I'd replace it. Tires are alot cheaper than what the consequences could end up being. :thumbup:

If its a car tire, plug it. If its a motorcycle tire replace it. MHO

Replace It.  Consequences are not good when precautions aren't taken.  Take it from someone who knows.

put a tube in it patch on inside file with green glue and go to church and put on your swampangle wings.

I used to work in a tire shop a long time ago.  I've seen plugs outlast the tires themselves!  With that said, if its right on the edge of the sidewall and tread, I would replace it.  If its just close, I would ride on!

The plug has a slow leak, so I'm replacing the tire.

smart and safe man.  I had a plug come out after only about 50 miles.  Thankfully I was going only about 50 when it came out.  Be safe with tires you only have 2 not like a truck with 4.
