Triple tree brgs
« on: August 17, 2010, 09:31:12 AM »

I need to replace my triple tree bearings so can I pull my front forks without releasing the springs and such? Never been into it. I can't kind any referance data or pic's to show me what maybe needed.

Just take the pinch bolts out of the triple tree, and the tubes just slide out. No need to open up the forks.

The top bearing is easy, but you will need to cut off the bottom bearing and press on the new one. The one I did, I just took to a machine shop and had them press it on.

Oh I know I can do it, I was just worried about having to turn my front springs loose. I've got Progressive Goldwing springs in there and I'm not interested in turning those bad boys loose in a closed garage with no place to hide!  :ohwow:

Yepper, and they work very well! I don't have that nose dive into corner's that the 1800 is famous for anymore.

Hooter the only thing you need to do it put on jack stand (Make a homemade like mine) Take front wheel off and windshield. Disconnect brakes from forks! You can leave on your fender but better to take it off to! Take off forks
(Just forks not springs to!) They just slide out from the triple trees!   Be sure to cover your gas tank really well with towels!!
 Good luck!!
