Dilema
« on: April 27, 2010, 01:05:26 PM »

Hi guys, I have a dilemma. For those who know me, I have made mentions in the past that I like baggers and that I really like the Harley Road Glide. I have an opportunity to purchase a 2007 Road Glide at a good price. My dilemma is the following. I feel like I’m betraying my girl if I trade her in. The wife will not let me have two nor I can afford it. Yes, I can make the X in to a bagger, but I like the fixed fairing of the Road Glide. Yes, there is the Gold Wing, but not my style.
I know there have been people that have gone from the X to a Harley or god forbid a Gold Wing ( :stickpoke:  :stickpoke:  :stickpoke: just kidding for those with wings) I have this huge weight on my shoulders that I feel that I will be a traitor if I do this. I do know the pros and cons of each (when I was laid-off I sold Harleys at a stealer for a few months. Yes, I was one of those guys, but you have to do what you have to do) The other dilemma is, will you guys still talk to me? Will you let me ride with you (I can ride in the back  ;D)….just kidding, I have made great friendships here and I know that will not change at all. Any advice or comments is appreciated, just keep the flames down.

My suggestion is that you go with the bike that makes you the happiest.  Personally I don't care what people ride...as long as they ride.  We have several people on here that don't ride X's anymore and we still pretend like we like them...jk...if someone snubs you due to riding a certain brand of bike, then it is time to hit the road and find some new friends.

BLASPHEMY

Seriously though, just buy what makes you happy.  Anybody that calls you a friend shouldn't care what you ride.

Jarubio, go ahead and get the Road Glide.  Pesonally I love the look of the road glide and it may be a consideration in the future, but for now, not yet.  If you are getting a good deal then go for it.  Only thing i can say is don't ask us why your HD is leaking oil and spilling gas everywhere. :stickpoke: :stickpoke:. Just kidding. we won't stop talking to you.  We'll just say something like "that's a weird looking vtx". :c

Don't buy the Harley.

Sell the X.

Get a 4 cylinder and feel the freakin' power...

:redcard:  As for you we will keep you reguardless of what you ride!!  My brother rode three Goldwings into the ground over the years! He bought a new H/D and Keely it less than a year!!  Then do and ride what you think you want. It is OK to make a mistake!!!   Ride safe ride long.

The one thing I haven't figured out the why part is when you take your bike into the Harley dealer you better take a can of lube with you as they stick it in ya deep.I know all dealers are pricy but Harley has em all beat from the way I heard Harley riders complain.
They both have their pluses and minuses bike wise just a matter on personal preference

No really, get what makes you happy. None of them are bad bikes, Just don't go all high and mighty with your new found HD friends...

Nobody here cares what you ride as long as you enjoy the ride. Everyone here has some sort of X connection (have one, had one, etc.)and the  people they meet grow on them :) so they stay. What you have to ask yourself is how important speed and curves are to you. From what I understand that the X does better on both then most harley's not sure about the Road Glide. Myself there is a softspot in my heart for the V-rod but a smart spot in my head that says noooo ;D.

The Road glide has a 6 speed tranny, electronic cruise control, nice saddle bags, the radio, frame mounted fairing.... 5 gallon fuel tank... it has a very cool factor that no other bike has...   you could pend some $$$$  and get your X to be some what like the road glide but it wont be one.  I had a 07 Ultra Classic and I love it, the only problem I had was the brake light switch on y handle bar went out and it was replaced under the 2 year warranty that came with the bike.

If the HD is what you want, just get it... but FYI look at an 08's because they have some extra stuff that you may want.   6 gallon tank, black out engine, Brembo brakes, trottle by wire.   The parts for the HD are about the same price they are for the VTX...  there are 4 or 5 HD dealers that are just like HDL.  just look around and you will find the good deals on parts.
