I read a couple of articles on the Prius attack in Kalifornicateya.  Looks more and more like a Balloon Boy type of scam.  The guy is in financial trouble and some of the folks he passed before the cop stopped him felt the guy had control of the thing.  Heck, the 911 operator even told the guy the same thing the video says.  Guy wouldn't even try it.  He hired a lawyer who now says they don't have plans to sue Toyota.  This guy is a world class dirtbag if he is pulling a scam and endangered numerous lives, not to mention endangering the heroic cop.

I don't know if the Prius guy is lying about what happened or not, but some people cannot think when these kind of things happen.  They panic.  They shut down.

My sister-in-law is one that shuts down in situations.  I have seen it alot.  One of my kids will be falling off of a chair that they were climbing on, or down some stairs one time, or some random thing, and she can't take her hands off of her mouth from surprise long enough to stop them from falling.  If you have time to put your hands over your mouth before they hit the ground, then you have time to reach out and try to stop them from falling.

The one with the steps.  If I would have been standing where she was standing, Shea would not have fallen down those three steps and hit the ground.  She didn't get hurt, other than a scratch, but if I would have been there, she wouldn't have been hurt.

My wife did it too.  We were in the pool.  My 6 year old was playing in the shallow end and holding onto the side.  My wife was 4 feet from her.  She slipped off of the edge, and the water was just about to her eye level.  She was bobbing up and down.  My wife was between us.  She froze.  I pushed her over to Shea and she picked her up out of the water.  She held her breathe the whole time, so she was ok, but my wife froze.  If I wouldn't have pushed her, she may have still been standing there.


Just some examples.  There are alot of people in this world that panic in high pressure situations.  Even when someone, like the 911 operator is trying to talk them through it, the brain has stopped working. 

I'm not defending the guy, well, maybe a little, but I would hope that he's not trying to make some money off of this thing.  I wouldn't want hat kind of attention myself.
