Going down
« on: March 03, 2010, 10:09:51 PM »

Was on my way home, guy in front of me put his left turn signal
on and started to slow down. I moved over to the right figuring
I'd go around him when he started to turm. Glanced in my mirror
to see where the lady was behind me. Looked up to see the guy
turning right. Rookie mistake I locked up the front tire, hello
pavement. Looks like I'll loose my big toe, my hip is a little
sore and a little road rash on my forearm. I was wearing my chaps
and new helmet. Ruined my chaps, helmet, jacket and boots. I had
slowed down to the 40-45 range and slid about 30 feet.I have been
humbled again. Dont know what the insurance company will do.

First the engine guard.

the windshield

the brake resivoir and mirror minus the broken hand guard

my new exhaust

and my tank

Sorry guys I was in a hurry  trying to get it posted its the toe nail. My right hip swelled way up last night, cant straighten my right arm and my left index finger and thumb are swollen and dont want to bend. Playing it over in my mind all I can think of is my front tire must have been on the painted line when I went for the brakes and couldnt get any traction. Kind of sucks. Wonder how long I'll make it at work today? I need to go for a ride.

Losing big toenail > Losing big toe.

Hope you feel better soon, glad you are still with us.

good thing you only lost a nail in this whole ordeal.  Take plenty of aleve gel caps and sit in some very warm water with epsom salt in it.

I'm glad it wasn't worse.  The bike can be fixed so I wouldn't sweat that.

Man, I am sorry to hear about your spill.  Get some rest and take plenty of ibuprofen.  You might want to get the joints checked out by the Doc if the swelling does not go down soon.  Take care and I hope the insurance treats you right.

Man sorry to hear about you pranging in.  Glad you are relatively OK.  To paraphrase the title of the book, later a movie, by Gen. Robert Scott - God is YOUR co-pilot!!!

Glad to hear you keep the toe.  Never know when you might need it for a thumb replacement!! :cool2:

dam, sorry to hear this brother, if u have bad road rash get some antibiotic ointment, such as Bacitracin or A&D ointment. In addition to preventing infection, this will help prevent the scab from becoming rigid and cracking when you move, and will make a hell of difference when the road rash start to heal.
