Houston M&G 10/7 - Sweet Mesquite - SouthWest - Updated Link
« on: October 05, 2009, 03:47:02 PM »

THE ADDRESS IS NOT ACCURATE.  The link below however, IS CORRECT.  Not one mapping program has the correct location.  Connie and Wayne got the GPS coordinates.  Then I received an email from Mike Rudd with coordinates as well.  So I'll post Connie and Wayne's location with Rudd's description.

Sweet Mesquite
Address Wrong
Missouri City, TX 77459
(281) 499-4682

Meet Time: 7:00pm

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=N29.56992,+W95.56537&sll=29.56992,95.56537&sspn=0.2356,0.444603&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Township+Ln,+Sienna+Plantation,+Fort+Bend,+Texas+77459&z=17

The place faces Township Lane (a boulevard) and is slightly closer to FM 1097 (Murphy Rd.) than to Route 6.  There is a small shopping center along FM 1097 which is bounded on the south by Township Lane.  At that corner, a building which is not connected to the rest of the shopping center contains a Black-Eyed Pea restaurant.  After turning onto Township Lane from FM 1097, there is a driveway into the shopping center just after the building containing the Black-Eyed Pea restaurant, and the Sweet Mesquite is in a smaller building just past that driveway and set back slightly from the street.   Although the name is painted in large letters on the wall above and to the left of the entrance, it might be hard to see after nightfall.  There is a large banana plant right next to the door, and that plant is probably the best landmark.  A flood light at the base of the banana plant lights up the plant, but the plant also casts a large shadow on much of the wall behind it where the restaurant name appears.

The exact GPS coordinates for Sweet Mesquite are
29.56992
95.56537

If you are coming down 1092 from Hwy 59 or 90, you would turn right on Township Ln which is right before Hwy 6.  Sweet Mesquite will be on your right.
If you are heading westbound on Hwy 6 then you would turn right on 1092 and left on the second street which is Township Ln.
If you are heading eastbound on Hwy 6 then you can turn left on Township Ln (last light before Hwy 6-there is a Sonic on your left) and follow the street around and Sweet Mesquite will be on your left.
