Looking for a trade...
« on: June 06, 2009, 05:21:48 PM »

I have a 1800 Neo that I would like to trade out my final drive to someone that has a 1300 that might want to swap.

Thanks,

Chad,

Can you do me a favor and post the advantages for both the 1300 and 1800 and any disadvantages as I have had a couple folks PM me about it and I am not that experienced with the difference.

Thanks

This says it all from: VTXCRZR
2003 1800C
Hypercharger
Rinehart 2 into 2 exhaust with no cross over
PCIII with custom map for each cylinder
Spec 3 F-wheels (increases rear wheel from 16 inch stock to 18 inch)
18x50x200 Metzler rear tyre (reduces tyre sidewall height from the stock 70 stock to the shorter 50)
1300 final drive

According to GPS, a Dyno, Intersate Highway mile markers, and those temporary radar speed reminders the police set up around town from time to time my speedometer is - 5% and my odometer is -3%.

Rode to Houston yesterday on I-10, roughly 280 miles interstate driving, averaged 75 MPH, 92 degrees F, 41% humidity, held the throttle rock steady and average exactly 40 MPG with odometer corrections factored in.

Of course there are those other days where I average something closer to 29 MPG out of a tank.

For a while I too was concerned about the possible loss of torque with the 1300FD but after switiching back and forth a couple of time I realized I couldn't really tell the difference in torque. The real difference and advantage is that it streches out all the gears and most importantly 1st gear.

If you do any long distance highway driving the 1300FD is a great modification. If you do mostly around town driving and or bar-to-bar driving then maybe not.

All kinds of info on the subject on www.vtxoa.com
Go to search: 1300 final on 1800 or 1800 final on 1300

Thanks for the post,  I just thought you might have a personal opionion as to the advantages of the 1800 and the same for the 1300.  You are right about the search.  I have done it but have not gotten real heads up comparison info.

Thanks again,

Have several friends that have 1300 finals on the 1800s and love them!! They do quite a bit of long rides and for that is perfect!! I myself like the 1800 final on my 1800. If you ride the bike right I useally get around 40 miles to the gallon. Last week was riding and my low fuel light didn't come on until about 140 miles. MPG up or down with the twist of the wrist!!  ;D

Ok,   Then what is your opinion on the advantages the 1300 will get with the 1800FD other then faster acceleration.

Thanks,

That is about the only thing that I know you will get from a 1800FD on a 1300.

Thanks again,

You rode with VTXCRZR on Sunday; should have asked him then. I hear that bike is prone to do 120 in the 70 zones...  :ohwow:

Trent,

I was talking about Lex; he was doing the 120 in a 70. But I think we have a confession from you!  ;)
