family member and a fellow biker now rides in Heaven
« on: June 04, 2009, 09:50:33 AM »

I would like to take a moment to share with all of you some sad news, a family member and a fellow biker was killed in a accident memorial day weekend. I think that possibly a mistake might have been  made ,I do not know for sure I wasn’t there but I just do not want anyone to make the same mistake he hight have made .He was an experienced and cautious rider with over 40 years road experience ,. The cause of death was not due to head trauma but other internal injuries. His wife had injuries that were below the neck that required medical attention but she did not sustain any head injury except bruising from her helmet strap . I Think that there may have been conditions out of anyone's control like rear tire malfunction and the condition of the land /area where the accident happed. His wife told me they were going about 65 when she heard a pop , his rear tire a brand new  Avon had blow out ,the bike a 1998 Kawasaki Voyager was shifting wildly from side to side ,he managed to keep it under control and get it slowed down to around 40 when she told him to get it on the grass  , I believe this might have been a mistake  because after pulling off the road and on  the grass  he lost control and went down .His youngest son was following behind and said it just did not look that bad ,they went going very fast but Dad just landed wrong.   His name was Clyde Semar and he was loved and well respected by his family , friends and community. We will miss him dearly.

Prayers to the family and yourself..... sad situation.....

I'll have to agree, getting in the grass is a horrible mistake! I had my rear tire go out at around 70 mph on the tollway in Dallas. While I could definately tell I had a problem, it was controllable and I managed to get it slowed down and pulled over. I have also been in the grass and dropped bikes at less than 10 mph....The grass and bikes don't go well together....
