I've been using the EBC. Lost faith in them when I started having trouble getting the bike to stop. Even though they had lots of meat left on them. Did a thorough job of changing the fluid and the stopping improved 100%. The EBC's are still just fine. I was amazed at how much difference fresh brake fluid can make. Randy and Farron flushed my system including wiping the resevoir out before the new fluid went in. My fluid didn't look that bad until we flushed the system and watch the color change from yellowish to clear.  :ohwow:
Not saying you don't need new pads, just wanted to throw that info out there.
Yes Honda is very proud of thier pads. EBC's work just fine.

Jim changed my front brake pads with some off the brand. (cheaper). They make a high pitch whine when I put on the brakes. Next time no matter how much they cost we will order OEM.

Marigold, they could be Carbone Lorraine.  I bought a set for the X and the 750 and they squeeled on both.  I'd stick with EBC or OEM.

matap, you'll get a wide range of answers; it all depends on your driving habits. About 5 or 6 years ago I had use of a gas analyzer for a day in a shop. Since I had no other way to put a load on the engine, I put the bike up on a stand and used the rear brake to create the load, running the bike hard for several minutes. I changed out the rear pads a couple of years ago, somewhere between 45k & 50k. The front pads still have plenty of meat on them.

I had to change the rear brake pads on my Ultra at 14K miles... no I don't ride the back brake...  is just on how you ride like Jim said... some people ride conservative and they get alot more miles from them then others...

I canNOT believe you asked this question!!  :ohwow:   :cantbelieve: :reaction: It has been asked and answered thousands of times!!!

NOT!!

Jim will probably also tell you to take a file and slightly bevel the edge of the pad to reduce/eliminate the squeal and the growl.  Don't go cheap!!  Don't know if you have linked brakes but be sure you have the same quality front and rear.

I like the stopping power of the OEM, but not the squeak.

The last two bikes I had still had a lot of meat left at 45k+ on each bike.  I probably could have gotten 75K out of them but I changed bikes instead.

I have replaces my brakes once, front and rear. I was sort of lucky. The front fork seals started to leak , so I had the stealership replace them, however due to the fork oil getting on the brake pads they replaced them for me without cost. I have bought some no name brand brake pads off e-bay and I use them for the back brakes only, I bought new OEM brake pads for the front.  :) I have about 20k on my "X".  ;D

I put the cheap kevlar pads on my 1300 and will do it again on my 1800 soon.
They are quite and stop well with little dust.
They are great. or i sure think so.
