« on: July 22, 2006, 03:02:59 PM »

I had benefit bike run today....but as soon as I got to my apt after the run. I was getting ready to put my bike in my living room. I noticed quarter size blue/purple puddle under the kickstand. I looked under it with mirror.. sure enought it is leaking from weep hole... :(  I'll do search and get the pump replaced.... what a Bummer!!!! Hopefully the second pump is good one's.. I have noticed couple members over there on the vtxoa board had to replace 5 pumps!...  :o

And was it the original coolant in the system?

My bike has about 8k Miles on it.. it's '03 C.

I had defective start up valve in conjuction with coolant system.  at the same time my cap with original coolant was almost full of shavings alone.. so I just drained it all out and flushed it with distilled water....replaced the start up valve and put Engine Ice in it @ 1k miles...

Now I just checked my cap.. there's still shavings in it.. I'm assuming that the bearings in the pump started to woller out and causing the seal to fail?....

O'well. I just ordered the pump.... just waitin' for brown van..... ???

Two things that I'm not familiar with "start up valve" and "Engine Ice"

I'm assuming Engine Ice is a type of coolant? If so, is it Silicate-free?

:) yup u answered ur queston correctly it is coolant..... Engine Ice is Propylene glycol in it.  it is also silicate free..O0

startup valve. It contains wax that melts when the coolant warms up & blocks an air bypass. it is behind and under the throttlebodies..
