Saw this on the news the other night, a new concept in auto insurance in Texas - pay by the mile. I put about 12K a year on my bike, and only about 3K on my car so I went to their web site
www.milemeter.com and plugged in my info, for the miles I drive on my 10 year old Sebring convertible, I can insure it for about $300 a year...
You choose how many miles you want to buy (minimum 1000), your insurance expires in 6 months or when you use up the miles, whichever comes first. You can add more miles if you didn't buy enough miles, but I'm guessing they probably throw in an extra fee for that but couldn't find it on their web site.
My girlfriend puts about 6K a year on her '04 Accord, for her it was about break-even with the insurance she currently has...
Just thought some of you guys might have a similar situation and want to know about this...
