FELLOW VTX BROTHER MAKING ONE MORE RIDE
« on: January 30, 2009, 12:52:48 PM »

A longtime member of the California vtx riders has cancer and will, with the help of many others, be making a cross country ride from California to Florida in the near future. I thought you all should know about this. I've meet Seneca on a number of occasions and I can say without a doubt that he is a special brother. Read the entire thread over on the California board (the link is below) and you'll get an idea of what I mean.
I plan to help in every way I can. I posted up on the thread (I'm marxvtex on that board) and have invited the group to spend a night here as they pass through Texas.
It would be sooooo cool if some of the TexasXriders could help escort the group through Texas.

Please check out this thread on the California board for all the info... http://www.californiavtxriders.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=36919

Seneca is a damned good man. He's been around since the VTXOA was young. I regret that I've fallen out of contact with him; I don't know if I could find his number any more. But if I can get the time off I would like to, at the very least, fall in with part of the ride. Keep us posted.

This is a copy and paste from the California board. I copied it over here so anyone that cares to donate to this worthy cause, can get the need info here without clicking over to the Cali board. I will continue to make updates here as warranted. Things are happening rapidly (apparently there isn't a lot of time), so stay tuned...

"After the long months of election dissension, tension and some rifts....it's is now time for us to come together again and heal and do what we do best for a brother and one of our beloved warriors.

He is known, and loved, and universally respected among the oldest members and the newest here. He is a fighter, a storyteller, and above all else, a true biker-to-the-bone. Our brother is fighting a difficult battle with a badass disease...and only he can face this enemy...but we can help to make his vision come true.

The vision?....His vision quest. A warrior's journey...a true epic road trip, to the Florida Keys. He is loathe to ask for help, it's not his way. But we will brush aside his temporary discomfort as unimportant considering the greater....and magnificent effort ahead. At the end of his journey he can look up and feel the warmth of the sun on his face and smell the sea....

I am asking this for Seneca....aka Richard Brownell, a member of the Seneca tribe and our tribe. A Marine, an Orca-Talker, an animal trainer, a mystic, a storyteller, a mystery....and our beloved brother

This is what we need to accomplish....and very soon:

- We need funds...donations for the trip. For gas, lodging, food, and other expenses.

- We need able and ready warriors for the escort!...as many as can make it...the trip of a lifetime.

- We need a follow vehicle, preferably a fifth-wheel or an RV, where Seneca can rest and attend to his medical needs in privacy. It would be great if it could handle his VTX...or pull a bike trailer if needed. Meals, bed rest....and obviously a driver and a rider to help with Seneca's scoot.

- Someone should document this journey...my gut tells me it is important to be able to tell this story again and again. A daily feed to YouTube maybe, so we can all share in this journey.

This is what we do...we've done it many times before and we shine like gold when we do this. It is beyond friendship, maybe beyond family...it is about that thing that we have always had....sticking your head out a window in the middle of the night and giving a howl...and then hearing other howls in the distance. We do this with a keyboard and the Internet...but it's about riding and about our special kinship. Time for the pack to come together again.

Kromee is the boss. This is how we need to do this:
Send checks or money orders to made out to Richard Brownell or to Johanna Mask to: Johanna Mask, P.O. Box 362, Wilton, CA 95693

Also, you may use PayPal to Kromee at: kromee@frontiernet.net

Remember: Money...riders to escort all the way with the time and the money to do this, or as far as you can go then peel away like a Blue Angel leaving formation...and a follow vehicle/RV/5th-wheel trailer

This is big....one to tell your grandkids about. The road-trip to end all road-trips.....keeping the sunrise in your face, the sunset at your back, until you reach the land of the Conches. The route will be Southernmost...hanging onto warmer weather....but it will be cold at times....making an RV or a trailer a luxury and doubly important.

One last note: These are hard times, with tough times ahead....but please spare what you can, and if you're out of work for the first time...then pack up and hit the road with the Seneca tribe. Why not. Life is Chicken Sandwich short ladies and gentlemen. Take a moment to consider....and then act.

More Info to follow.........and of course all will be kept in the loop.

My humble apologies to Rich.....but I gotta do what I gotta do.

Richard Vaughn"

I thought I'd also post Seneca's picture here to put a face to the name, for those who've never met the man.
He has a Heart the size of texas.

As a fellow member of the CaVTXRiders, I just want to say thanks to all of you Texas "X" Riders.

I know Mark from the other board and from rides we've been on. I can tell that this group here is a quality bunch too!

I just wish I was able to do this ride with him.

Anything that any of you can do is so much appreciated

Back in '02 the story of him losing his key in a toliet on a stop during a ride  :ohwow: helped convince me to always keep an extra key in my wallet. He is one heck of a nice guy who I would always want on my side...I, too, will cover his back!  :c
