Dyno Tune is done
« on: July 14, 2006, 02:02:38 PM »

Got the bike dynoed today at Sabin Performance, wow that is awesome to watch. Watching the bike dig into that drum and feeling the reverberration in the room. Rockin.  I recommend Jim Sabin to anyone in the area.  Not only does he know his business, he's just a nice guy and explained every step of the way to me.  It was a great time.

Don't have the results in electronic format yet but I was very surprised at what it pulled on a zero map (no PCIII). Believe it or not, the bike ran pretty much great before I even added the PCIII (usb). The only part we really improved on was in the lower RPM.

Heres the configuration:
V&H Bigshots w/ Monster baffles (wrapped so they seal)
Thunder Hurricane with freshly cleaned/oiled filter
Uber spark plugs (new and gap checked before install)
Fresh Amsoil Syn Oil (engine and final drive)
New Avons with 41lbs of air.

Here's the numbers (a little disappointed I didn't crack 100hp but it WAS over 100 degrees in the dyno room..)
SAE (corrected)

Zero map baseline (before):
Max HP - 98.6
Max TQ - 110.9

Tuned (dual cylinder w/ PCIII usb)(after):
Max HP - 98.8
Max TQ - 112.0

Yes, believe it or not.. my bike was pretty much making max HP without even putting on a PCIII. In fact, the lines are almost not decernible on the chart after about 3200rpm. before that there's some differentiation that he tuned out (ran way lean at low rpm)

Max horsepower was made at about 5400 rpm. Max torque is pretty flat holding between 110/112 from 3300rpm to 4200rpm then starts to drop off very gradually.

All in all I'm very impressed that it performed that well. I really wanted to break 100 but I can live with nearly 99. And with 112 ft lbs of torque, it's definitely no slouch!!

I'll post the dyno sheet once he emails it to me.

Thanks guys. It was really hot that day (like it is today) so later in the year when we get some cooler days I may go back and have him do a pull and see what the numbers do.  He only charges $30 bucks for a pull.

It seems to be running very smooth now though, better than before and no more surge at around 3000 rpm.

You can get his contact info from www.sabinperformance.com

His shop is located a couple of blocks off I-35E and Walnut Hill on Shady Lane (in Dallas).  Easy to get to but a little tricky to find on Shady Lane because it's in one of those strip type office buildings.

He has a $30 dyno special, that's just for a HP/Torque pull, no tuning.
For tuning 1800 - If you buy the PCIII from him (for $269) then the tune is $200, install included.  If you buy the PCIII elsewhere the tune is $250.
For tuning 1300 - I have no idea since it requires rejetting.

He's an ex road track racer, including all the way up to AMA Superbike. He was the top privateer for a long time.  He knows his bikes and can do some serious work.
