3 Sisters ride ?
« on: December 03, 2008, 01:10:50 PM »

I was planning on a motorcycle trip through the hill country this spring and I was wondering when is a good time to ride the 3 sisters?  I was reading that at a certain time of year there are millions upon millions of butterflys.  I want to avoid that as much as possible so I can get the most enjoyment out of the ride.  Any thoughts or suggestions?  Any other good rides out there? Thanks.

In April we went to the hill country for the annual butterfly tagging.  And I can assure you that that is not the best time to go.  Our bikes were a mess along with our riding gear.  Altho, it was an amazing site to ride thru clouds of butterflies.  So April is one time to avoid based on our experience.

We have our annual BlueBonnet Thunder (BBT) rally out in the Hill Country in May, and we've never had problems with butterflies.  I can't remember if the love bugs were a problem or not, but I don't think they are.

Lovebugs are a Houston thing, thank God....  ???

When in May?  We were planning on doing this around the 7th.  Is that a good time to avoid the butterflies?

Last year was the 4th weekend in May.  It's normally around that time, maybe a week sooner.

This year it will be April 23 - April 26. There should be a post up later in the week.

I've never seen a flock of butterflies, when does that happen? I would like to go see it and maybe take in the bats too.

Marco, what do they call the type of handlebars you have on your bike?

Ape hangers, monkey bars, guerilla bars. I guess that's it. That's all I know anyways.
