Dumb question of the day...
« on: November 10, 2008, 05:34:12 PM »

Okay, I screwed up, I pulled the spark plug wire off by the wire, now for the
question of the day,
How do I get the metal clip out of the rubber boot so I can re-connect the wire?

I feel strongly that I am not the first person to ever do this,

You should have a threaded post (looks like a wood screw tip) at the top of the boot. Thread it into the wire, and make sure the wire's core makes contact with the post.

Boogie,
Hipshot's info is spot on, however, consider the possibility that you may have pulled out some/all of the conductive core at the very end of the spark plug wire.  If the wire is long enough to cut off about 1/4" - 1/2", that should get you back to 'good wire.'

Exactly.... I do it just about every time I pull the plug wire off. Hell, my plug wires are so short now I am suprised they even work....

Hey Noob, not to worry man!....the shorter wires present less resistance!!........they are probably better!!!
