Arai Vector Helment
« on: November 01, 2008, 10:02:49 PM »

Hey Guys,

Just wanted to let ya'll know...I drive 50+ miles to work everyday and have been wearing an HJC full face helment since I bought my VTX1800. I drive on average about 85MPH on the way to and from work. I bought the Scala Q2 Intercom/Radio/Bluetooth and realized I could not hear crap. Too much wind!!! Even started to get an ear infection, because before the Scala Q2, I wore my IPOD that doubled as ear plugs!  ???

Went to the store and was thinking about buying the Scorpion EXO-700. After trying it on, it did not feel much different than my HJC. I put on the Shoei and it was pretty comfortable, but then I tried the Arai Vector....WOW...It is like putting a pillow top mattress on your head! I drove home and there was virtually no wind noise in comparison. Riding became more enjoyable than it already was. I did for out over 2-3 times more for the Arai Vector than I would have paid for the Scorpion, but I do not regret it at all! I can now talk to people on my bike via the Q2 and hear them very well and they can hear me. In fact, they do not even know I am on the bike. They think I am in the house!!! I have some very loud pipes too without any baffles.

If there is anything I learned from this, is do not spend a lot of money on your bike and try to get off cheap on accessories that may have to save your life one day. You really do get what you pay for when it comes to Helments!

Best Regards,

A 500 dollar helmet you wear is cheaper than a 200 dollar helmet you don't wear.  The premium helmets aren't more expensive because they're safer in a crash, usually, but because they spend $$$ on R&D for fit, comfort, wind reduction, better air flow, ergonomics.....

When I go get a new helmet, the LAST thing I look at is the price tag. Find one that fits you well and buy it. Just gulp a little bit when they ring it up and WEAR IT!!!

I don't care what other people think. They don't do it very often!
Of Course it's dirty. It's hard to clean when the tires keep moving.
