OT - Truck
« on: October 10, 2008, 12:36:11 PM »

Okay, my truck's cab got crushed in the storm. It's an '89 C6P Chevy. What that means is that it was a base one ton sold as a 3/4 ton pickup; the GVWR is 8600 lbs. It's a standard cab, four wheel drive, 3.42 axles, and a four-speed manual with a granny first. The color is black sapphire metallic, which is a VERY dark blue metallic. It has a plastic bed liner (I'm keeping the tool box) and a chrome brush guard. It also has a class three receiver hitch, and a trailer plug. The engine is the one ton version of the 350; it has a different chip and the torque peaks at 2400rpm -- great for towing or for off-road use. It was $100 more than the standard version of the 350. It's a crate engine bought new from and installed by the dealership. It has about 7,000 miles on it. The first 500 were on dino oil, since then it's had only Mobil One in it. It has four brand-new tires (less than 300 miles) on it (street tires on the factory 8-bolt rims). I can't recall for sure, but they're either 245 or 265-70R16s.

Because of the 8600lb. GVWR, the truck gets a 3-gas analysis instead of a 5-gas analysis for inspection. It passes WAY up in the green. This truck needs a new cab and it will be good to go. It will need a new control module ($60) for the wipers -- sometimes they won't shut off.

If you want a 4x4 for the lease or a good street truck, and you have the time to put a new cab on it, this truck might be the one for you. I want $2,000, and a new crate engine and new tires sell for more than that. Let me know if you're interested. You will need to trailer it, since the windshield is shattered. I have removed the battery and I top it off weekly, so you can crank it up and hear it run if you like.

I forgot to add, it's a standard cab, no carpet, and blue vinyl interior.
