After Ike in the Golden Triangle
« on: October 05, 2008, 01:15:22 PM »

:(  I've been in Beaumont/Bridge City/Nederland/Port Arthur the past week with 14 other Special Service techs (AT&T) from Austin/San Antonio and Dallas working to get communication circuits restored.  A lot of work!  Bridge City really got hit hard. We should be here another week, then on to Galveston. That's the plan for now. There are about 35 cable repair techs from the Dallas area.

Not counting, but since I have no at&t products...who cares? ;D

Just kidding.  I can not tell you how many folks have been here from all over.  Your efforts are very appreciated and a much-needed help to return to normal.  It will be a long road, but the spirit of people is so resilient.  Thanks again.

Hey Wayne!

Did you bring the wing down?

Lots of people lost everything. Tinman (James) is one of those. He and his wife lost two houses.

Hookem, did you have much damage?

If I can help anyone in any way, just give me a shout. 409-284-1599 I am a one arm bandit right now, but I'll do what I can.

Wayne, Thanks for helping to put us back together.

I'm way up in north Houston where we had a lot of falling tree damage to power and cable.  My hat's off to all the crews that have been working non-stop getting service restored for all of us.   O0

I've seen crews from Georgia, Florida, Ohio, North Carolina, and Indiana.  The bunch that got us going again was from Michigan.

Thanks to all of them!

+1. I don't live down there any more but have a hosue in Bridge City. I've been down a couple fo times working on it. It's amazing to see people who have lost everything hauling their wet stuff out to the road, yet laughing and smiling and offering to help neighbors even though they have enough problems of their own. NOOO whining! If you sat down outside for a breather, somebody would always stop to ffer water, ice, and food. Truly resilient people with a can do "I'm not lettin this beat me" attitude. Thanks for you help, as well as the help from all the fire departments that hae been down there from up here by Dallas. Cedar Hill, Red Oak, and Denton just to name a few.
