Wow Cat Hmmm... didn't consider thread count? Just figured if it's a 8mm bolt I removed, then any 8mm chrome bolt would fit in it's place?? No? They are metric and they are the 4 bolts holding the pipes to the heads. Which in itself is really weird because the Honda Parts Fiche for my 2003 "C" shows an 8mm NUT CAP. And not a bolt?? But no, the new chrome bolts I got are of the 8mm Hex nut variety. The holes are not chromed. I am switching to the Hex nut type because of the trouble I had getting a socket onto a couple of the original bolts due to the custom pipes I have. Also bought chrome for the lower shock bolts.I also need to find the right size chromed Hex bolts to replace the steel ones previously used to pinch the trees. Those steel ones created a rusty mess and seized up.
Careful on those shock bolts. Many chrome bolts you find around are very soft (Ace Hardware). Should be a hardness number stamped on hex head of bolt (i.e. "8.8", etc.), try and match that with replacement. If not you're asking for trouble at high torque.
