What is the monument in the 2nd picture.. Pictures are beautiful just for the fact that they were taken by someone that was having a good time.... ;D ;D
That was actually on hwy 259. I detoured off Talimena driveway to go there, then got back on the drive. It's called "the three sticks" or some such. I may have gotten a pic of the plaque that tells what it is. I'll check some of the other photos tomorrow.
A side note that I just thought to add. BGreer and I rode up to the spot of that monument last year when he came up here after the hurricane. We stopped, and noticed that the place was literally covered with "walking stick" insects. I mean, if you stood still, they would crawl up. A guy pulled in with a Wing, sidecar and trailer. By the time we could walk over to it, one was already halfway up the sidecars wheel. I may have a pic handy. I wonder if this is where the "stick" came from??

rode there yesterday on our way back from riding the dragon at deal's gap, and the cherohala skyway, the skyway is the same kind of roads, but goes up to around 6,000 feet. and the dragon is awesome!!!! but was wet so it was cruise speed only. O0
Man, that sounds like some kinda' riding. It was dry when I was up there, till late in the day.
Holler next time you're up this way.

Bryan, that spot is only about 11 miles from where 259 intersects Talimena drive.
