Anybody in Rx goggles?
« on: June 27, 2006, 03:20:16 PM »

I'm thinking of getting a set.  I hate to admit it, but my ol' man vision just keeps getting worse.  I was curious about how happy folks are with interchagable lenses.

I like goggles more than glasses.  Although, I still occasionally get some grit in the eye when it gets through the vents and foam inserts.  I worry that interchangable lenses would just be another place to get grit through (or lose one while in use).

I don't think I'd ever be happy with a set of goggles over my glasses.  That just sounds terribly uncomfortable.

If you decide on some of the one's from Bobster, let me know and i'll try to get you a good price. The Cruiser II's are probably the most popular ones that are just goggles and Rx ready. You might check out the Road Hog II. There the most popular ones they sell. Change from sunglasses to goggles,3 lenses and Rx ready.  You can see em at www.zanheadgear.com

Before I started wearing a full face helmet I had the WillyX goggles.  They come with a elastic strap and ear pieces like regular glasses.  I had regular and sunglass lenses made at my optomitrist.  They were very comfortable and the lenses never came out unexpectedly.

before lasix i wore the aviator goggles with iridum lenses, check out this link:

http://www.classicgoggles.com/goggles/merchant.mv?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=CG&Category_Code=ref4400p

kind of pricey but i love the way they look!  i actually bought them without the rx since they couldn't do my prescription (yup my eyes were that bad) and had a local optometrist make lenses (that in itself was an oddysey...went to several optometrists and they said they couldn't make the lenses for the gogles but tried to sell me other eyewear! finally found a guy in Irving who did it for me!)

now, after lasik, i don't need prescription goggles, so i removed the lenses and still use the goggles...i like them that much!

Thanks for the replies.  I looked at the bobster ones online.

I need to find a local store and try a pair on.  I got a huge nugget on my shoulders, and a lot frames get swallowed by my cromagnon eyesockets.

I've got goggles in both clear and sunglass lenses. I wear a half helemt in the warm weather (darn near year around here) and I didn't like the interchangeable lenses. Mine have an elastic band, rather than temples, which is more comfortable to me, and I can adjust for a tighter fit. I got them at SportRx.com.
