What are you, a butt magnet?  ;D :D ;D

LOL, I'm all for the cig. thing John, they stink but it's a subconscious action, talking on the phone requires thought and that distracts from watching the road. Take them both out.  O0
LOL! No, I wasn't talking about stinky butts Dusty. No, I just know that there is not as much disrtraction answering a call, as there is trying to get to your lit cigarette or the "cherry" that fell out of it in your lap, LOL Or the pop out cigarrette lighter falling in your lap. Been there done that. Hot fire in your lap will always take over your attention more than a cell phone will. The subconcious reaction will have you out of your seat and jerking the wheel real quick. ;D

if they want to save lives, they should start by outlawing fast food first.  That'd save a boat load more money year after year, not to mention lives.

...... LOL! I wasn't talking stinky butts either. I meant the butts that fly out the window in a spray of sparks. You do make some good points.

I am all for freedom of choice but don't make me pay for some elses poor choices.  Insurance rates are based in part on the horrendous medical cost of motorcycle related head injuries.  If you don't want to wear a helmet then just carry a nonhelmet add on to your policy and keep my rates based on my reduced risk head injury because I wear a helmet.

Actually, the projected medical costs associated with someone NOT wearing a helmet are 80% less than someone who was wearing a helmet due to the fact that the brain-bucket will preserve your opportunity to live for the next 20-30 years complete with a machine doing all the necessary work for you.  I, for one, can not stand the reduced field of vision and sound of traffic on-coming that comes along with the brain-bucket.  Every once in a blue moon, I actually put one on, and am instantly reminded of how much more I enjoy the ride without one.

They never made it illegal to smoke and drive...They should pass that one way before the cell phone law. ;)

I live in Alvarado, and a buddy of mine got pulled-over the other day for no helmut. The officer said he was pulling ALL m/c riders over and warning them if they did not have some sticker on their plates for that extra insurance that you need to ride without a helmut.     That sucks.

Who or where do you get those stickers from? Seems like I applied for one many moons ago but never received it. I'm pretty sure this will be the next thing the cops latch on to since there are more and more bikes on the road. I've been pulled over several times and the helmet issue was never mentioned.

I'll wear my helmet in the rain and in winter. Other wise, the dang thing is just a PITA.

I refuse to get the sticker.  Now, I don't ride without a helmet very often, but if I do, and they pull me over to check my insurance, I figure that's one less person they can get revenue from....because I have my insurance card.  If they pull over enough of us with valid insurance cards, maybe they'll quit looking at every MC plate for a little sticker, and start doing something crazy like protecting and serving.
