Valve adjustment for an 1800
« on: May 31, 2008, 03:13:24 PM »

Ok, I guess it's time to quit putting it off and get it done.

50K miles. Tapper did the last adjustment at 8K miles. I don't know the first thing about valve adjustments and after what I've learned in the last year of wrenching my own bike it scares me to even think about doing it myself. Probably cost me a fortune in replacing parts, tools and overnight shipping charges.  ;D  I'd be more confident if I could just download it, install it and reboot.

Looking for someone in the Cedar Creek Lake area. How about coming to the house and doing it here? And maybe bring some beer?

Seriously, anyone know of where I could get this done in the DFW area?

If you went 42,000 miles without getting them checked, maybe you should join the few of us that thinks it's a crock to check them every 8,000 miles. I think the last time I did mine was 20,000 miles ago. Seems like I read a thread on the VTXOA about a guy that had something like 102,000 miles on his bike and had never done a valve check since the first one.

Yes I'm the same guy that says you should do what the manual says but I think they were trying to drum up business for the dealers when they printed the schedule.

Flame suit on.  ;D
