« on: June 25, 2006, 06:20:41 AM »

Anybody have any comments on rides inTennessee? The wife and I are headin gthere tomorrow and are gonna just follow our noses so any really outstanding rides that you might be aware of and want to share would be appreciated. We aren't going to far East, probably just the other side of Nashville

The east side of Tennessee most definately. Everyone that I know who has rode the gap and the dragon lives for it and returns to it over and over again for the twists and turns and other loves it. And I can tell you from being statoned there for 3 years the Dragon is the place to be. Just beaware of the other riders...aka Crouch rockets, cars adn trucks etc... but have a blast....

hEY Muff, this is the paperpeddler.  I go to NC evey year, You want to ride the Dragon hwy 129 from Deals gap in NC to a little past the Tenn. state line its 13 miles, be awake it awsome.  Also hwy 28 that runs from Bryson City to Franklin will also take your breath away and you skin if you are not careful.  Then if you have time take the Teleco hwy its like a hog back drop offs on both sides and you ride on the ridge.  You will find others, but these 3 a a MUST.  Let me kjnow what you think when you return.

Paperpeddler is right.  We were at the Hoot last week, and we rode the Dragon, had lunch in Robbinsville, and then rode the Cherohala west to Tellico plains.  If you want some info on other great rides in the area, post on the Tennessee board or PM Scarecrow.  He hosted a get together last week, and there were some great rides with little or NO TRAFFIC.  It is hard to find a bad road in that area.
