Just not right.
« on: July 05, 2006, 10:57:12 PM »

I wish I could meet up with someone around here and let them listen to my bike. It just doesn't seem right to me since I put the road house slip on's, seem's like I have lost power and smoothness.
I don't trust the stealers, there just out to get you $$$.
Any wrenches in my area?

not a wrencher by all means. Did you tighten everything back up? Did you also change the exhaust gaskets when you put these on?

I was told that the connector pipe on the stockers is where all your power is.   Kinda like an x pipe on a vette. That could be some of your power loss.

Lots of people put on less restrictve pipes, only to find they have lost power rather than gained it. Go through posts on the VTXOA site and you'll find this is common, especially on a carb'd bike. It is quite possible, almost a given, that you will need to re-jet and possibly open up your air intake to take advantage of the pipes you put on.

If I were you, I'd switch back to stock and sell me those power robbing Roadhouse slip-ons for about $73.50. JK

I noticed a little less smooth after I installed my Roadhouse slip-ons too. I think alot of it was the ability to hear and maybe feel more of every pop and other strange sounds coming from the louder pipes.
My solution was doing the pair valve removal. It seems to run smoother now - but I think it has more to do with the fact that it sounds so much smoother. It was easy to do - but would have been easier with some one with some experience looking over my shoulder. Do a search on the national board and you will get loads of hits and a link to instructions with pictures.

Good Luck - let me know if you need any help

It's too late -- you've done irreparable damage. Drop it off here and I'll take it to the landfill for you :D :D :D.

Yep  Jim is right .  It's worthless now.  But don't take it to Jim.  Just call me and I will come pick it up.

What a great number of people do not understand is that if you change the pipes, air intake or fuel flow from stock you have screwed with the fuel/air raito and you have to get it back in balance.  Rejet for carbs or fuel management device for FI.  No two ways about it.   Some folks get lucky and change a few things and do not notice any big difference in performance.  But they are few and far between.
