new bike(s)
« on: May 13, 2008, 09:08:04 PM »

well, got some new toys to play with....  unfortunately nothing near my x....  :'(

went and picked up a yamahaw 700 raptor quad, and a yammy xt250 enduro style dirt/street bike on a wednesday.  went the following saturday and picked up a yammy yz450f dirt bike.  all a whole lot of fun.  the quad is a bit scary going about 60mph though.

didnt even take a week before we had the front-end loader out building a hill and jump  O0

and yes yes, ive already laid the 250 down.....  was turning around in a burm we built up and the rear tire caught in the loose dirt at the top and i went down right on the wrist that just healed....  it was sore, but i was having too much fun to care  ;D

cool ...I raced a maico 250 in '76' a yz 490 in the early 80s, then cr 480, then cr 500  through the 90s til I damaged my siatic (spelling?)nerve on a kicker jump in 98....total of 22 years. Had  to make a choice...work or race....wasnt good enough to eat off the racing so....LOl
.....take the things to swan mx in tyler...it dont get any faster, or any bigger jumps,  wonderful track, but ya gotta pay 200 bucs a year for a key because of theaving aholes....
have fun!
I miss it alot.

I love my Raptor 700. I've had a few different quads and several dirtbikes but the Raptor 700FI is incredible. Lots of torque, always cranks, has reverse, just an all around great bike!

Swan is one heck of a place for sure. Its really hard to beat Swan, although Splendora MX is alot closer. I have not been to Splendora since they cut down all the trees but I hear that it is really nice still. Quads are welcome all the time.

Also if your coming South from Cleveland just prior to Splendora on 59 there is another MX track that will be open by the end of the month. I hear it is nice but the track is smaller then Splendora MX.

Good Luck and ride safe.

Is Mosher Valley MX still open in Arlington? Used to go out there and watch the races, good cheap entertainment. I still have my XR600 but haven't ridden it in a while. I used to like to go prowl around out at the flying P in weatherford until they closed it down, used to go ride the trails down by the trinity a lot too until they started putting a bunch of no trespassing stuff up.

Moiser Valley and Jerry Surber are gone. The City finally shut them down. They sold the GNC Nationals to OakHill and moved on to retirement. We had a blast at the GNC Nationals while at Mosier.
