You know the sad thing is - 25 years ago when I worked at a bank in Louisiana - we could (at that time) electronically varify and clear a check from any where in the US with in 3 days.  Now that was 25 years ago and there was none of this coming back 3 weeks later to tell you that it was a fraudulent check - we knew right then if it was bogus.  Of coarse the banks here tell you it takes 8-10 working days - Bull - their just using the float to make money off thier customers.

Sorry - didn't mean to hijack your string. . .  It just burns me up. . . >:(

Earl, it's simply not worth his time.  It's not a legit deal, period.  It's an UBER common scam attempt.

I posted a car for sale, last year, online. I heard from a guy with the same story. He even sent me a cashiers check. My good fortune was that the check was written on another branch of my bank. I went to my bank and they scanned it and instantly told me it was no good. I contacted the North Richland Hills police department and tried to file a complaint. I got a visit fron the North Richland Hills internet fraud task force member and a guy from the Secret Service, who is in charge of this type of fraud. Long story short they tracked this guy back to Nigeria. These guys trying to get away with these scams have some really good printers and these checks look real but are not. At the recomendation of local guys and the Secret service I let this add run for about 4 months. The result was 14 bogus checks totaling $120,000 and not 1 good check in the bunch.
Watch out!
