Air/Fuel Meter
« on: January 29, 2008, 11:03:31 PM »

Ok maybe I am missing something but I looked pretty far into the garage section. I was wondering if anyone new a good place online to purchase a Air/Fuel Ratio Meter to assist me in fine tuning my carb after I rejetted it?

I recall some discussion about an air/fuel gauge that mounts on the bike a few years back on the VTXOA. I can't recall who made it, or whether it did what its manufacturer claimed, but i do remember that it was pretty spendy. I believe it required welding a bung onto your exhaust for the sensor. I've no idea if they're still available.

It seems really easy to do.  It's  going to require a o2 sensor, and a a/f mix guage.  Sensor is about 50 bucks, and the guage probalby another 50.

The hard part is welding a nut into the pipe to screw the o2 sensor in cuz you gotta take the pipes off, cut it, weld it, paint it, and put the boogers back on.

I think power commander makes a cool setup that has an o2 sensor and a few other things in it.  It's also recordable so you can analize the numbers.

Is there any system that I dont have to weld anything? I just want it as a one time deal. Dont want it permanantly on.

For a one time shot, go to a dyno shop, or for that matter, some large metro areas (not sure about el paso, other end of the state from me) have them at the state inspection stations.
