I know I passed the state inspection here at fort bliss and they didnt test the exhaust. I put a pair of Hard Krome 2.5 on my VTX 1300. One day I thought I was in for it when a cop came walking over to the bike. He was asking whos bike that was and made me turn it back on to check the noise. I was reving it up before he paid me a visit.  ;D Anyways, I was polite and did what he asked. He gave me a hard look then sayed " Damn, those are the pipes I need on my bike." :D He had been looking for some good pipes.

Basically I think if you are not a badass about it and respect the law everything will be cool.

I think i will take out the baffles next fridays track night though. ;)

You'll probably do better on the strip with the baffles in.

Yep, you're more than likely going to lose power without the baffles.

yall recon Ill lose power eh? the map i have now was made for my pipes sans baffles... but i do know you need a certain amount of backpressure to make good power..Ill keep that in mind thanks. referring back to the thread, noticed alot of peeps mentioning their pipes were not an issue at inspection..neither were mine..got my sticker last week and the guy never mentioned anything about exaust..I wasn't trying to say it was an issue now..just that at the rate things are going and the way that some bikes can vibrate your eardrums out your head..someday..we could face the decibel meter at the inspection station or a ban on after market pipes altogether..that would suk! dont get me wrong, i like my loud pipes just some folks go overboard and it reflects on all of us ..peace

Technically, your pipes are already illegal; it just doesn't get enforced. The fools who enjoy annoying people with their loud pipes (and they usually shout "It's my right!!") are going to change that for us. I also believe that we will see emissions testing for motorcycles in Texas in the not too distant future.

It's my right, O0

and I'm entitled! Cause I live in America, and it's ALWAYS someone else's fault. NOT mine! I don't have to be responsible for anything!

The only ones I've ever seen get excited over the loud pipes is the DPS Troopers.  I know none of the guys at our P.D. have ever wrote cites for the loud pipes, most of our officers have the loud pipes LOL. the Loud rap music from the cars well thats a different story O0

You know that's funny! My office window overlooks Hwy 59, and when I hear the loud pipes of a cycle approaching I'll occasionally look to see what's going by. Yesterday, as I heard some really loud pipes whizzing by, I looked to see a Police bike with his lights all lit up!  :o :D :o

I know back in Chicago where I am from originally pipes and other things such as PA's on your cars are legal. The police say they are ok because they are not continuous noises. Like music is always continuous. I dont know how they seperate mufflers from music but I guess because at a light the mufflers are not so loud. Then again maybe it is because Chicago has so many people that love riding. O0 O0 O0

Dude,
F the honda dealers and just go to any harley shop and get your inspection sticker.  I have 2003 1800c, with some many violations on it, what do I care...  shoot no one else except harley will pass it!

violations
I have straight pipes, but no one told me they weren't pass or illegal
unacceptable led license plate that shows multiple colors in back view
unacceptable led showing multiple colors in front view
unacceptable presentation of inspection sticker
unacceptable lighting for license plate
insufficient mirror view on bike, only need one, but my is not a good one....
speedo needle broke, inappropriate indication of speed
bright headlight switch dont work

hey it all "passes" with Harley shop O0

From what I have read about the LED lights in texas is that any lights you wanna put on your bike to shine is ok. Texas figures we need all the help being seen at night anyway. Maybe Honda dealership is just over anal.

about the leds, yes it is ok if they shine from the sides of the bike and does help out at night (for everyone to see you include the cops!)  However, they are not to be seen from the front or rear view of the bike directly, unless they are headlight, turn signal, or brake indicators, otherwise you are in violation and will not pass the state inspection from a Honda Stealer...
