Is my fuel injector going bad?
« on: November 09, 2007, 08:17:40 PM »

Last weekend when I was riding, it felt like my bike would die. I would look down and see the "FI" light on then a split second later it would kick back in with a little backfire.  At first I thought it was bad gas but I ran that tank dry and filled up again.  Different brand, different grade, different town.  It has happened in every gear except first.  Does anybody have any ideas on what this problem could be?   Thanks

based on the amount of times i've read posts exactly like this one, i would say it is one of 2 things. first check to make sure your battery cables are tight, they are notorius for loosening up and causing the problems you decribing. the other would be doing the ground fix. when these bikes were built the electrical grounds were attached to the frame over the paint. these bikes need to be grounded well in order to operate correctly. if you need more info on the ground fix let me know and i'll send you a link. but definetly check your cables first. good luck and ride safe.
