Hello all.  Just joined up.  Been looking for local info on other VTX owners and was happy to locate Texas X Riders.  I'm 57, retired Law Enforcement now working in corporate aviation here in San Antonio.  Been away from rideing for years but recently got the itch. Was setting on a new HD but could not bring myself to pull the trigger on such an expensive problem child.  Been looking at a lot of new bikes but just happened to run into a guy at the airport that works in a hangar near mine that just bought a new Lexus hardtop conv. and neded to sell his 2004 VTX 1300c.  Took it for a test ride and my shoping days for a bike were over.  I became ta VTX fan immediately.  It's super clean with low milage and completly stock.  I can customize it however I want.
I would really like to meet up with some local VTX owners for rideing and asking questions so if you can give me some info on how to get started I would greatly appreciate the help.
Oh yes.  A few weeks ago I bought my wife a Suzuki GZ 250 to get her feet wet.  She will be graduating to a cruiser soon.  She is also a retired cop and not the type to ride the back seat.  Got to have her own.  Looking forward to hearing from you.

Welcome to the board O0 There is quite a few riders down in the Cen-Tex area and just be cautious, the one they call RD will expect you to buy all the beer on your first outting and he is known to know all the joints, bartenders and their wives and kids on a first name basis. Just take lots of money and it will be OK.

Welcome to the board! Got any money? Want to go for a ride? J/K

Keep an eye on the Central Texas ride board for rides in this area. The Lone Star Rally is in Galveston the 1st week end in November. 100+ of the Tx X Riders around the state will be attending. What's your work schedule? M-F or are you off during the week? smoothx and I get out for some day rides, but generally on Mon - Wed, due to his work schedule.

Thanks everyone for the welcome.  RD My job is one of those 7 days a week type and my days off all depend on when the big shots decide they want to use one of the planes.  I'm off about 50% of the weekends and usually have at least one day during the week that I can get away.  Like today I finished around 11 am and have the rest of the day free.  So lets keep in touch because I would really like to meet up.
I think today I'm going to try and decide on what oil and filter I want to use and pick it up so I can get it change out as soon as I can because I want to be sure of what is in the X. What has been the overall choice of oil/filter with the X riders you know?

Check that out on the Tech Board. There's alot of discussion on that topic. I use the standard Honda oil filter w/ Honda HP4 Gold, no moly syn. It's worked fine for me, (over 3 yrs. & 40K miles), it's inline within recomendations from Honda. I'm not a big Tech-ie, so you'll have to pick your poision. I do have a large garage, tools, bike lift, and stand, if you ever need assistance, or if you don't have the equipment. Just let me know.
We need a meet and greet in Central Texas soon. Hopefully we can put something together, and it'll fit your schedule.
