I've done my seat pin mod, but the rings really bug the crap out of me.  I saw this pic over on the big board and think this would just about make the seat pin mod perfect.  Anyone got a tap and die that could help me out?  I haven't needed one in 38 years, I doubt I'll need one after... LOL  So buying the setup for 2 pins seems extreme.

Just buy an oversized acorn nut and JB Weld them on.

Wow this is a brilliant idea.... Now I get to go buy new seat pins, because the acorn nuts are JUST big enough that they don't clear the edge of my Ultimate seat.  I could slam it in there, but I'd never get it back off.  Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

But on another note, I'd never used JB Weld before, and wow, what cool stuff!  I've heard about it for years, but never had opportunity to use it.

JB Weld is good stuff, I fixxed a carb with the stuff on a truck I once owned.  I had overtightened the gas line and broke the housing and JB took care of it.

Informationally, what I did to get rid of the metal rings on my retent pins was to just use a loop of cord.  THe cord jams up under the seat easy as pie, I can fish it out with my finger, no trouble, and you don't even see it.  And of course if it 'falls' and hits the fender, no scratches.
