On the other hand, when you blow the little f*#^ker's head off the local media is going to paint you as a murderer and post the little f*#^ker's photograph in the paper -- the one in his dress uniform taken during the three days he was in the Army before they kicked him out for possession of controlled substances and an improper relationship with the unit's mascot (a billy goat); the little f*#^ker's family will be besieged by prostitutes promising to make them rich in the wrongful death lawsuit they will file against you; Hillary and her party will hold you up as another yet reason why citizens should not be permitted to own firearms, and the criminal trial (yours) will be a dog and pony show about your interfering with this poor honest burglar's right to make a living, and how it's your fault he flunked out of high school because he was too busy dealing crack and skipping school to make a passing grade.

Had a Miata top slashed for the stereo (I wasn't savvy enough to leave it unlocked, if that would've helped).  Got a removable hard top with the insurance money, a few months later, the scum just bust a window out, like regular.  Don't think it matters much if you have a soft top or not.  Maybe a few of the theiving scumbags will get their asses shot off with the new Castle law and the rest will decide the risk/reward ratio ain't working out any more.  I'd hate to kill anybody over a $300 stereo but on the other hand, I do have some pent up hostility for 'em.  I'm kind of a night owl, and go outside all hours of the night to smoke.  One of these days...

I dont view it as killing them over a $300 stereo. I view it as defending your basic right as a human being to life, liberty, and property (John Locke) or in the case of our constitution pursuit of happiness. They're depriving me of my right to own property, to enjoy the fruits of my labor, of my ability to spend time with my wife rather than working to pay for what they stole. It's not about the dollar amount.
