VTX Ignition Relocation Kit
« on: October 29, 2007, 10:40:07 PM »

Hey all you mechanics out there. I am looking for some info on how I might relocate the inition on my 1300R. I did see something somewhere but I cannot remember where I seen it. I want to move my key from right next to chrome cover(where I can't use a Key Chain)to the center bolt on my trees.Or at least somewhere up by the handlebars.

  ANYONE WITH INFO,please post it.

 Thanx

here is a post about one type of relocation...  It isn't exactly what you are looking for, but running 3 wires to a different ignition would work I think.  You just gotta find one the will mount/fit where you want it.

I think SoMeOnE on this forum once used a toggle switch on their bike...  Maybe they could offer some advice on the wiring side of it  ???   ;D O0

I really want to take the whole existing key switch and relocate it with some sort of bracket to my center bolt on my trees,or something like that. I guess what I really need is a chrome bracket that would work for something like that.

In a non judgmental way I ask...  Why are you so keen to use a key chain?

Well see I have LoJack and I have this little Key FOB that I have on a Key ring with my house key and the locks to my saddlebags and I don't like having one little key to keep up,I am afraid I will lose it. By having 2-3 keys to keep up with,it will be here to keep up with.

The OEM ignition switch is a bit bulky for a clean relocation. You might wish to consider using a more compact switch for your project.

Makes sense...   I have just always hated the scuffing that causes.
