Balancing a Tire
« on: July 30, 2007, 11:51:31 AM »

I went over to the darkside this weekend.  I couldn't find a bike shop that would do it, so the local auto shop mounted the tire for me.  It would not fit on the balancer, so they did not balance it.

I have a BIG shake at 75 or 80 that I'm sure is caused by not being balanced.

How do I balance the tire?

Pretty neat, but I'd use slime if I was gonna' be putting anything inside to balance my tires. It might even help in case of a small puncture, where the beads wouldn't.

PJ1 balance plus  (#BP-8)  $6.99  1-800-533-7927  Competition Accessories  you might need two for the car tire and one for the front..  IT DOES BOTH STOP LEAK AND BALANCE  I used it it the Wing and have almost 10,000 miles on the tires..

It is a General UHP.  V Rated.  I don't usually go over 130, so I figured that would be good enough.

The tire was $100 and I got it swapped out for 25.00, but they didn't balance it.

I'm going to try the slime.  I didn't realize that would work.

Can I go to the local parts store and buy slime, and it work?

Or should I order that stuff over the phone?

I'm not sure about the slime but I do know that Ride On works extremely well but you have to order it online. It's industrial/military grade stuff and it does not harm your wheels like cheaper stuff. You can read up on it on their site http://www.ride-on.com/?gclid=CJzbr-iN0o0CFQlQWAod-we5mQ. They have a formula just for bikes. Hope this helps.

Thanks guys,

I hope this works.  It wobbles pretty good at that speed.

I will post pictures when all is well.  I don't want to post a picture of something that is going to kill me.

You guys rock.  TexasXRiders comes through again.  Solved my problem with minimal cost and hardship.

I just used "Slime" for now.  I may get the RideOn stuff later, if the slime solution wears out or something.

But I got up to 100 this afternoon, smooth as it's ever been.

I'll post tomorrow, with pictures on the general board for my take on the car tire.

Thanks again guys.

SLIME SUXS.
I ONLY use a static balancer.
If it is good for 212.10mph it is good for 25mph
