Installing Easy Brackets
« on: May 26, 2007, 02:06:04 PM »

I bought the Easy Brackets that go with the quick detachable Paladin sissy bar.
Have not bought the bar yet and I was about to install the brackets.
Looking at the hardware it appears the bolts are sized to only work if I have the sissy bar installed as well.

Anybody installed this setup and have some advice?

its not the same setup but i've got the easy brackets with a cobra rest.

the rear bolts/spacers have to be longer as the fender tapers down towards the back.

if the bracket bolts both attach on the same holes as the sissy bar you should be able to use the brackets w/o the bar

if it only uses one bolt the same as the sissy bar you could probably use some washers to space out what would be the same thickness as the sissy bar bracket O0

Hope this is some help

Yeah that helps.
I may give it a try and see how it fits/looks.
Plan to order the sissy bar soon so it wouldn't be like that for long anyway.

Any advice for how you actually mounted the bags to the brackets?
I just want to make sure to get them even and high enough that the right side bag doesn't touch the pipes, but make sure they are not too high and get in my girl's way.

What kind of bags will you be using? If there is no worry of them sagging down, mount the bags just high enough to clear the pipes by about 1-1 1/2 inches. I have used a piece of aluminum on the very underside of the bag and put them very close ( 1/2 inch) with no prob. Remember also...if you switch pipes later, the new type of pipes will probably be a different height. Best idea for position? mount your brackets ON THE FENDER RAILS, Put something the inch or so you want the bags higher than the pipes down the length of the pipes( a 1 inch thick piece of wood on the cold pipes) and put the bags on them. Put something under one end to bevel them to what looks good to you. Eyball what you think is right from a distance, decide if thats how you want them. If yes, outline the easybracket top corner position, transfer this to the other bag, and mount 'em. Hope this helps.
