This aint a ground problem....

The louder exhaust sounds got me to thinkin about maybe a loose pipe. I just went out with my flash light to look around, and there is oil on the case near the rear pipe, its not coming out of the head or the block, but it looks like its coming out where the pipe goes into the motor. Im not thinking positive things right now.

Sounds like you need to tighten up the exhaust.

The Saga continues......Episode IV.

Did the ground fix. The whole she-bang. Rear cylinder was not firing, the new plugs I had put in, were brand new, never-fired. Ground fix of course brought it back for a minute. We've got it narrowed down to either the rear coil is goin, or maybe a connection in the ECM. We were tapping stuff to see if we could kill the cylinder, and think it may actually be the ECM. WE disconnected it checked the wires and connections for corrosion and bare wires. Its on a test run right now with my Step Dad (hes mechanically inclined, Im mechanically retarded) We lost power the first time after ground fix when I messed with the seat, (finger-crossed) the connections werent fully covered by rubber cover and may have pressed against some of the metal and caused it. I know Im reaching there but it is what it is.

Step dad just got back, never missed a beat. Maybe we got it licked. The oil comin from the exhaust was from the dead cylinder, certainly put a big $$$ scare in me. Hope we got it, I thank yall for all the input. I definately would ve been lost with out the direction. Im goin riding, weekend is saved for the moment <Salute>

I thinki we got it. lookin like a short in the connection of the ecm. I riden over 100 miles this evening, not a skip. ill keep an eye on it, but so far so good, at least if we havent got it fixed, we know where to look.

Also while we had the tank off we installed teh Cobra FI2000r, first impression after 100 miles......I likey. I havent even touched the settings and can tell an improvement in acceleration, deceleration and the back fires. I think it might cut, slice, dice and chop while still maintaing its razor sharp edge, if it cooks, its over.
