I was lucky to see her at all. A fleeting glimpse to my right allowed me to stop before being T-boned at the three way junction. With one hand holding the cell phone to her ear and the other waving frantically in the air describing what she was trying to say, she kept going without ever seeing me. I felt lucky.
At the next stop she was still conducting her conversation that was obviously more important than continuing through the line of traffic so I attempted to go around her, only to be cut off when she suddenly accelerated and detoured me into oncoming people that didn’t understand why I was going in the opposite direction than the sign stated. Everyone’s supposed to know which lane to be in, right? Again I survived unscathed and felt lucky to do so.
Continuing down the lane, I didn’t notice her coming rapidly from behind until she hit me. Not hard really, but a glancing blow that sent me reeling, trying to keep my balance and not drop it. I managed to keep upright but ran into several people that had been standing by waiting for her to clear the area.
No one got hurt, my bike is fine and the manager of the Burger King sent someone into the dining room to clean up the mess. Later as I got ready to leave, I noticed she was heading for the door. I decided to have another Dr. Pepper....
True story. Lunch today.
